If/When I have a daughter...

11 August, 2022

Here are some principles of the things I’d teach my future daughter..

If/when I have a daughter...

I’d teach her to be curious about life, the universe and the world around her.

I’d teach her to be kind and patient with the people around her.

I’d teach her she doesn’t need makeup to be beautiful.

I’d teach her she needn’t brandish her body to get a boy’s attention. The right man will fall for her intellect, heart, soul and character.

I’d teach her she doesn’t need to wait for other people to tell her what to do.

I’d teach her to ask for what she wants in life

I’d teach her, whatever she’s doing in her endeavors, put in the best effort as possible and don’t worry about the result.

I’d teach her to have a growth mindset

I’d teach her, she is the master of her soul, the creator of her reality. She alone has the power and responsibility to change her life and situation.

I’d teach her to go after what she wants in life. Pursue it with tenacity and strong pertinacity.

I’d teach her to ask for a promotion or a raise.

I’d teach her to seek the kingdom of God.

I’d teach her be courageous like Saint Joan of Arc, march into battle if you must, with God by your side.

Albert Lynch - Joan of Arc

I’d teach her to seek help when she needs it. Never be afraid to ask for help.

Show her the power of constantly being in a state of grace.

John Everett Millais - Joan of Arc

“If I am not in a state of grace, I pray God places me in it; If I am in it, I pray God keeps me so.” - Joan of Arc

I’d teach her to be humble first and when necessary, pride and arrogance as a last resort..

I’d teach her to seek to understand then to be understood, listen intently.

I’d tell her that whatever a man can do intellectually, so can she.

I’d teach her to respect her sexuality and body, only give herself to the man that has earned it.

I’d show her that a mothers job is the most important job in the world. Without amazing mothers, the human race falls apart.

I’d show her the wonderful world of mathematics, and help her fall in love with the language of the universe.

I’d introduce her to mental models to effectively approach life’s problems in an efficient way.

I’d teach her about biases and how it affects human decision making.

I’d teach her to think about probabilities when making decisions.

I’d teach her to take care of the weak, those who can’t defend themselves.

This is an ongoing list.. if you have good principles to add, please let me know.
